Music

North Como’s faith community gathers for worship and celebration each week, utilizing the gifts that we each bring to create a service that is full of joy!  All are welcome — in fact, encouraged — to find ways to contribute to our musical experience.  From our 35-voice Sanctuary Choir, to our 20-piece church orchestra (whose membership includes teenagers to retired folks, and all ability levels);  from our active bell ministry to our multicultural contemporary group. You are warmly invited to learn more about these opportunities and to participate fully as everything that has breath gives praise to God!

Vocal Choirs

Sanctuary Choir meets on Wednesdays from 7:30-9:00pm in the Choir Room. This adult SATB choir meets weekly to rehearse for Sunday worship services and special programs during the year. Our anthems range from traditional to contemporary, and all are welcome to join us. We present Lessons & Carols (with full orchestra) each December, and a requiem (with professional chamber orchestra) on Good Friday. We have a folder, just for you!

Rejoice! Music Team rehearses Mondays from 7:30-8:30pm in the Sanctuary. This ensemble provides multicultural, contemporary music for several worship services each month. With a focus on outreach and inclusivity, the team leads the congregation in worship songs as well as sharing anthems. Singers, guitarists, and instrumentalists are always welcome.

A Cappella Group:  For young adults (in their 20’s and 30’s) we have an a cappella group that performs in the community, as well as offers music for worship.  We sing music that is new and fresh, and new voices that enjoy challenging music and that can blend well in an a cappella setting are welcome.

Vivace Voices is our choir for more mature voices…those 55 and better.  We meet occasionally throughout the year to sing old favorites!

Global Harmony Community Chorus meets in January and February to raise money and awareness for various global relief organizations.  This 120-voice, interfaith, non-auditioned group has raised over $86,000 throughout our first 5 seasons.  Visit our website for more information  www.globalharmonychorus.org

Instrumental Groups

The Prime Chimers is our adult bell choir which meets Mondays from 6:30-7:30pm in the Bell Room. Our bell team plays a variety of music during the worship service, as well as with other music groups. We also enjoy taking our bells out into the community to share our unique music medium and our talents with our neighbors. Ages high school and up are welcome! No experience necessary; we'll teach you how to ring!

Commosso Ensemble meets on Wednesdays from 7:00-7:30pm in the Sanctuary. This is a group of musicians who, regardless of how often they play their instruments or how recently it’s been since they studied music, commit to playing for a service twice each month. This instrumental ensemble is open to people who have had at least 2 years of training on their instrument. Join us!

Children’s Music Ministry

Our children participate in a variety of musical events throughout the year, including the annual Children’s Christmas Pageant, the all-church Talent Show, the summer theater production, and the Easter choir.  Rehearsals are held, as needed, during (or immediately following ) Sunday School.
